A vision of Qing Dynasty romance mixed with eclectic 1970s psychedelia

A vision of Qing Dynasty romance mixed with eclectic 1970s psychedelia is this season’s fusion of East-meets-West. The 600-year-old Forbidden City inspires Tam in Imperial yellow, vivid green, crimson, white and ink black - a bold, earthy palette echoing the marble, brickwork, murals and paintings. Romanticism updated with a rebellious sartorial twist, this collection is designed with love. Ruyi cut-out lapels, collars, ruffles and wide jacquard sleeves are inspired by costu...mes in Chinese TV drama ‘Story of Yanxi Palace’ depicting the Qing Imperial court. Modernized motifs are adapted from Chinese scroll paintings of landscapes, flowers and myths. An abundance of old-world romance rendered in a contemporary style. Denim, jacquard, plaid, cotton fleece, lace, silk and Tam’s signature mesh and embroideries - textures are infused with 1970s counterculture. Vintage style patchwork and pleated skirts, flared pants, sweatshirt bodies, high collars, and prairie blouses expressed in lush fabrics. Innovative embellishments such as Chinese silk ribbons made sporty. Tam turns to graphic effects and high-impact, modern shapes to offset traditional flourishes – see the reversible, hooded, polar fleece in a painterly blue floral print, or stylish jacquard and patchwork cargo pants with cuffed, cropped ankles. A modern sense of globalism. A world stronger together than apart. #viviennetam #VTFW20 #forbiddencity 展开
