In an eclectic workshop in Flagstaff, Arizona, called Fretwater Boatworks, Brad Dimock is passing a tradition of building and running Grand Canyon dory boats to his apprentice, Cricket. Dimock’s mentor was the late Martin Litton, an environmental crusader who introduced dories to the Grand Canyon and helped block construction of proposed megadams at Marble and Bridge Canyons. His philosophy was to get more folks on the river and let them see for themselves what needed protecting. Read the story here:
