BOOK CHALLENGE: BEAT THAT BOOKSTACK - Chris,

BOOK CHALLENGE: BEAT THAT BOOKSTACK - Chris, Bookazine Staff/ "South of the Border, West of the Sun" by Haruki Murakami⠀ Due to working in a bookstore, the name Murakami inevitably drifts into your psyche and forever leaves an impression. After trying a couple of his other titles (After Dark and Kafka On The Shore, both great and unique) and not reading anything by him for a while, I bought "South Of The Border, West Of The Sun impulsively, because to be perfectly frank, I ne...eded another dose of Murakami magic. The story starts out in post war Japan, where a young boy named Hajime befriends a girl named Shimamoto, and they both happen to be only children. After developing a close friendship bordering on the romantic, their lives take different paths and they are forced to separate. Fast forward 25 years and Hajime is married with 3 kids and runs a jazz bar, when suddenly his childhood friend Shimamoto appears and his world is turned upside down. Murakami has a special ability of cracking open the shell of the heart and soul and articulating the contents wonderfully. there were moments were I read passages and sat there for a moment, almost stunned because they were describing my inner most thoughts. If you're looking for a tale of romance with a unique approach then I definitely recommend "South Of The Border, West Of The Sun" #beatthatbookstack #bookswelove #harukimurakami #valentines #southoftheborderwestofthesun #sotbwost #murakami #bookreview #booksellers #bookstagram #booksofig #bookazinehk #hkig #hkreads #hkdaily #bookchallenge #valentinereads #romance #fiction See more
